I am Karen, have been working as a career coach for 2 years now. I have also worked as an HR professional in various sectors for more than 20 years. What me triggered To join Popcorn: I have known Recha for a number of years as an HR professional and career coach. When she asked me to join Popcorn, I did not hesitate for a second. I have confidence in Recha and was keen to put my shoulders to the wheel with Popcorn. What also appealed to me was that it was a collaboration with Rik and Niels from Track Abilities, I know the organisation from my professional role as an HR Business Partner. It is nice to be part of a Start Up that you fully 100% believe in, where you can work in confidence with solid, honourable and fine people.
Why do you love doing your job as a career coach?
I find it a nice addition to my job as HR Business Partner, I know the labour market very well through my extensive HR experience in various companies. As a career coach, you have a more direct impact on a person and it is satisfying to see that person grow and take further steps.

The 1ste what I immediately click with is personal connection: this is a value that is very important to me both privately and professionally. Without personal connection, it is very difficult for me to be able to give myself 100%.
Besides that, spunk is also an important value for me! I am someone who likes to get into the action, who can also confront people in a respectful way, and I am always on the move (not in terms of sports 😊)
